“Damn it!” Leona jerked her left hand towards the street – she recognized the all too familiar prickly sensation gathering on her thumb. Somehow, she managed to stab herself with a hairpin. She brought the injury closer to her chest for inspection. Blood oozed out slowly, tempting her suck the little drop before it became a gooey mess. And she did – the copper taste wasn’t savory at all. Today is not my day. Leona had nothing to cover it up, and she wasn’t going to for a few hours. She had to finish the job. Plus, breaks didn’t seem like a brilliant idea. After all, she was trying to break into a vehicle.
Leona originally decided to be tame today. Mind her own business for a change. Maybe even celebrate a hard day’s work with a few beers before going to bed. But the scene was all too enticing. It was nighttime, and New Orleans had been peculiarly quiet. She walked passed that same car for what seemed like the sixth time that week. It only caught her attention because it appeared to be forsaken – cast off from whoever owned the stupid thing. It wasn’t broken, didn’t budge an inch since she had first seen it, no signs of life inhabited the interior. Was this a really horrifying murder mystery? Or a dumb ploy by the police? Either way, she was curious. She had to know.
Her left thumb was still in her mouth as she glided her other hand over the dark blue paint job. Miraculously, the car didn’t seem that dirty. A few scratches here and there – nothing too serious. It reminded her of the family car back when she was still a brat. Very nostalgic. The thief chuckled quietly to herself. This moment wasn’t the best time to start feeling sentimental. She had to buckle down and get on it. Crouching, Leona removed her thumb and waved it in the air for a good second. The cold tingle reminded her where she was. Hint, it wasn’t down memory lane. She twirled the hairpin in her hand, deep in concentration.
That was, until she heard the crunching of old leaves. Her heart wanted to rocket out of her chest. Leona turned around towards the general direction of the noise, wide-eyed and a bit freaked out. At any given moment, she was ready to run. “Hello?”

Anymore, the redundancy of living a normal teenage life was beginning to itch at Liam. Used to running away from his foster families and hitting the life of a delinquent, Liam rolled out of bed and left the house, making sure his adoptive mom was still asleep. He hadn't bothered with her car. Instead, he shrugged off his tee shirt as large black wings lifted from the tattoo on his back and he took to the air. Flying, to Liam, was like a high. For thousands of years, humans had yearned to fly, even going as far as to make machines that could do just that. They attempted dangerous stunts like skydiving, bungy jumping, and hot air balloons to get the thrill of feeling the wind through their hair and the utterly helpless feeling of being able to control one's body. But none of them compared to being able to actually fly. He circled New Orleans a few times before landing on the rooftop of a local bar. Like a gargoyle, he knelt at the corner of the building, just out of light range and watched the commotion down below. Already, he could feel his Sin activating, his own desire to turn the desires of those near him. Already, a man sitting at one of the outdoor bar tables, stood and ordered a much larger drink than his first one while a group of girls found sudden inspiration to saunter up to the guys sitting at the bar. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, attempting to rein in his Sin. Having never actually met his father, he had no idea how to control such things. Not that he thought he'd get the chance. Asmodeus, Demon Lord of Lust, wanted his bastard child killed and Liam had spent most of his life avoiding the man. Controlling his Sin would be one easy way to erase the trail of where he was.
Opening his wings once more, he lifted into the air and checked out another part of town. He wanted something more heart pounding, but he didn't want it to be fake. His Sin caused humans to divulge in desires they other wise wouldn't and Liam always felt as if those desires were fake, something that clearly didn't define who someone was. He made a pass over a deserted street and he did a quick double take and grinned. Bingo. She was crouched down beside the car and was clearly trying to break into it. He landed out of her sight, in the shadows of a tree and his wings returned to tattoo form before he pulled his tee-shirt back on.
Hello? He ducked behind the tree as her voice called out and his heart hammered. Had she seen him? Staying hidden behind the tree, he pulled his shirt off again and silently took back to the skies. Circling once more, he drifted down till he landed silently on the car's roof and knelt down, smirking down at her. He liked this angle better. "You're taking too long. If you're going to jack a car, it needs to be quick. Anyone can just stroll by." he said lazily. He left his wings out in case she hurled something at him and he needed to take off quickly. He stuffed his tee shirt down into his back pocket.

“You’re taking too long.” Her head snapped up and she gazed back towards the car. She first noticed the wings. They had a sheen, a familiar radiance that almost matched black oil. Black. Her eyes locked onto him perched upon the roof of the car. She could have sworn he stared hollowly back. His shadowy figure made her feel knotted and sour. She felt her heart pulsing, thrumming as every second shuffled by. Leona wanted to scream, but she could only make out a gasp. “Demon.” A chill crept up her arms. She cursed her lack of luck.
They were bad news. At least, that had been what the word on the street was. She remembered the frightened ones, wilting at the mere mention of them. The supernatural. Angels. Demons. What difference did it make? Hushed voices, whimpers, fear in the place of what was supposed to be a sense of security. She didn’t want their ramblings to be one of her clearest memories of New Orleans, but it was. And at the end of every story, the same phrase escaped their lips as if they were a broken record. They were bad news.
She wanted to disappear. Slink back into the darkness and let the buildings veil her escape. But she couldn’t leave. She physically and mentally, could not leave. Her grip tightened around the hairpin in her right hand. Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. Breath and respond, she thought as she contained herself. The courage came crawling back in bits and pieces. “I…I know what I am doing.” She stammered, her eyes never meeting his face. “Just let me do what I came to do.” Her lips trembled, but her figure had straightened itself out. She felt restless. Had there been anyone there besides them?
The whole world swam around her and the throbbing in her head wouldn’t go away. The urge to say something, anything, was the only thing on her mind. “Besides,” She abandoned her anxious expression. “You’ve been watching too many heist movies.” Her eyes naturally found itself on the car door. She settled into a trance, doubts and terror gnawing away at her chest. Her hands found the path to the lock, she could do this. For a few minutes, she said nothing.
Click.
A smile crept on her mouth. “See?” Her eyes sparkled as she turned vaguely upward. The relief and excitement came as one. Standing up, Leona glanced towards her enigmatic spectator. He was shirtless. What a surprise. She recoiled, looking back at the car door – she felt the blood rushing to her cheeks. “Question. Do you always harass innocent girls with your shirt off?” Her fingertips caressed the handle, gripping it ever so slightly. “Or is it just a onetime thing?” She opened the door, maneuvering into the innards of her new toy. Hello darling, this check-up is going to be thorough.

Demon. The very word sent a shiver down his spine and his anger spiked to irritation. Granted, the demons hadn't done much in this world to give humans anything other than fear but wasn't it cruel to throw him in with the rest? After all, his mother was human... Didn't that account for something? She stuttered over her words and he smirked, watching her with mild amusement. Did she now? When he heard the click, he was surprised. He'd have taken have the time to do what she had done. When she crawled into the interior, Liam hoisted himself over the side of the car and his wings formed the tattoo on his back before he leaned his back against the car, crossing his arms over his chest. Out of habit, he looked both ways down the street and scanned the shadows before turning back to her.
"Question, does my being shirtless bother you? It's not like any other male in existence wanders around without a shirt on. Now, however, if you were shirtless, we'd have a reason to be flustered, now wouldn't we?" But he reached behind him and pulled his tee-shirt from his back pocket and pulled it down over his head. Without his wings or his tattoo showing, he appeared like any other teenage boy. He gave the street yet another look up and down before bending down and looking into the car. "So, you see a fancy car sitting on the street, let's say, for a few days, and you just decide to break in? Just for shit's sake?" he asked her, curiously. "You don't go for joy rides and put all the windows down just to feel alive?" It was almost like his Sin had a mind of it's own, he felt it activate, anticipating swaying her mind and letting her give into her desires. This time, he let it. He wanted a night of fun and he doubted she was going to do much on her own, especially when she'd been so spooked in his presence.

Leona fixated her eyes towards the rear seats, avoiding the shiny seat belts and minding the slight mustiness of the cushions. There were colors of velvet and cyan sprinkled all over the floor mats, a sign of spilled beverages. She felt the fuzziness grow inside. This car was a treasure chest in disguise. Who were the owners? Digging into her makeshift couch, she let her imagination run amok. They were a small family against a tall world. They argued often, but were content with how life was. Religious, had a dog too. Leona dreamily thought about the story behind the stains. Summer day, vacation for a week before Dad had to go back to his accounting job. It was the first time Mom let the kids bring in drinks from the convenience store. It wasn’t the best idea in hindsight. Her vision abruptly ended as she felt the staggering of the car. "Question, does my being shirtless bother you? It's not like any other male in existence wanders around without a shirt on." Great, she sighed as her head found itself on the seat's rest. For a blissful second, she had totally forgotten he was there. “Depends. Are you normally a tool?” she shot back, deliberately closing her eyes. “Now, however, if you were shirtless, we'd have a reason to be flustered, now wouldn't we?" Apparently this demon wasn’t just a douche, he was a creep as well. “You’re never going to get a real girlfriend if you keep acting like a pubescent fifteen year old.” She was probably digging her own grave, but he provoked her first. Leona snuck a peek at her overly-friendly-neighborhood-jerk. She had never got to fully see him, given the situation and all. He had to be average, at best. Hi, good-looking, she thoughtfully mused, lost in his distinctive facial features. Crap. Her eyes flickered back to the board in front of her as disbelief played on her face. She felt the faintest signs of blush on her cheeks. Why did always have to be the assholes? "So, you see a fancy car sitting on the street, let's say, for a few days, and you just decide to break in? Just for shit's sake?" “No, I’m doing it because this car looked extremely valuable. Probably going to sell it.” Her smile hinted sarcasm. “College is a literal and a figurative death sentence, you know?” She tilted her head – fingers running upon the cold surface of the board. The smooth texture was soothing, and quite frankly, addicting. "You don't go for joy rides and put all the windows down just to feel alive?" Eyes shifting back towards him, Leo raised her eyebrows. “Sometimes.” She offered him a wry look. Now that she thought about it, driving did seem tempting. Her hand made its way towards the ignition cover. Now, what did Leland teach me about wiring again?tag: Liam McCaulsonnotes: blah~

He snorted, and straightened back up. He turned and disappeared into the darkness. There was only a few moments of his departure before the passenger door clicked open and he was sliding into the seat beside her, running a hand through his dark hair and flashing her a grin. "Tool? No. Far from it. You just don't understand what fun is. And who said anything about finding a girlfriend?" He felt more of his Sin escape his thoughts, almost filling the car with its intensity. Normally, he would have shut it off or left the area before it got this bad but his heart was pounding and his limbs were rushing with adrenaline. He was beginning to think this girl would give him the rush he was looking for.
While she was busy trying to remember how to jump start the thing, Liam's attention was drawn to the side mirror where he spotted a man walking aimlessly towards them, a defeatedness about him that suggested something terrible had happened to him. He was digging in his pocket for something and it was the jingle of keys that had Liam's body moving into action. He'd taken inventory on the street when he'd been leaning against the car not listening to her and had noticed that this was the only car on the street. It was either extremely sheer coincidence that the man bumped keys in his pockets or they were about to be quickly found out. Not giving himself time to think, he pushed past her, his body pressed against hers as he ripped the steering cover off and tanked out a few wires. He was quick to strip them of the casings and tie them together. With a single snap of his fingers, a tiny bolt of lightening erupted between the two wires and the car started. Leaning even further across her lap, he yanked her car door closed. "Go!" he said, turning his head to look back at the man who had stopped in his tracks, dumbfounded, taking a little longer than normal to realize what was going on in front of him.

Leona scowled as he made his way into the passenger seat. She normally appreciated uninvited guests, except when it came to her fun. No one ever messes with her enjoyment. "Tool? No. Far from it. You just don't understand what fun is. And who said anything about finding a girlfriend?" If she had heat vision, he would probably be her first intentional victim. “Not having your shirt on is fun?” Leo placed a finger on her pursed lips, gazing towards the roof of the car playfully. “And it’s just a word of advice.” She shrugged. Her hand itched as she tried to find the cover. The craving to drive became all the more genuine, it was clawing away at her insides. Her heart fluttered at the thought of it. Anyone would have freaked by the boy’s sudden movement. Leo was caught unaware, mouth sewn as her heart jolted. A mix of clamoring and prattle dwelled in her mind, failing to register the distant chime of the keys. She wanted to wrench him off, or at least, bash his head in with her knees. It was unnerving, and she instinctively fought back. “What the h—“ “Go!”
Her eyes followed his, the urgency was enough to shake her—to fear for herself. The agitation proved warranted, she noticed the silhouette. Head snapping back to what was ahead, right hand tugging on the gear, Leo slammed on the gas. She held her breath and the rusty roar of the engine took over. The car lurched, then crawled, glided, sped. The adrenaline was blaring and her eyes, now fiery, danced to her sides to and fro. Leo ran the car through the hushed streets of New Orleans. To evade an accident, she switched the headlights on and rolled the windows down to catch the chill air. Speeding well over the limit, all the insignificant cares and worries of the night fell away, and she felt a swell within her chest. Without conscious thought, her hands guided the vehicle down routes she never had traveled before. It was something out of a dream—the path lined with starry lamps, illuminating the nothingness, the freedom. She broke into a smile, then giggled before cracking into bubbly laughter. These moments didn’t require logic, the individual just needed to be there. “Holy shit!” Her face glowed as her fingers rhythmically bounced on the steering wheel. It was stupid, but she relished it. tag: Liam McCaulsonnotes: totally fine! have a lot of summer preparation to do anyways~

He was leaning out his window, a grin on his face as he let out a whoop of joy. He fell back into the passenger seat, a grin spread across his face and his blue eyes dancing merrily. He entwined his fingers on top of his head, letting out a breath he apparently had been holding. "holy shit is right!" he said. He reached across the center console and turned the radio up, finding a rock station and turning the bass up. Streets and buildings whizzed past them like blurs but Liam didn't even notice. It had been so long since he'd had this kind of adrenaline rush and he loved how alive it made him feel. He looked over his shoulder and out the rear window to see if anyone was following them but the streets were empty.
He settled back in his seat, one elbow resting on the open window. He turned his blue eyes on her. "The name's Liam." he said, offering his other hand to her. "It's been a pleasure breaking the law with you." he told her with a smirk.

“Hell yeah!” Leona felt as giddy as a child on their birthday when the radio blasted. It was always the tiny things in life that pleased her—the most insignificant victories that made her feel like she was the luckiest girl in the world. This is how life is supposed to be, satisfaction enveloped her. It honestly was a drug. A distinguishable high that left an insatiable addiction shortly afterwards. There wasn’t a need for intrigue or curiosity. The monstrosity known as Worry was detained, sentenced to the inescapable sectors of her mind where it would be long forgotten. At least, for that precious moment. "The name's Liam." She caught the offer out of the corner of her eye. “Leo.” Her right hand accepted the gesture. For what it was worth, the block of nerves that she felt around him had melted. Much less demon-y, more human-ish. Probably still an outstanding douchebag, though. "It's been a pleasure breaking the law with you." She nodded, subtly smiling as her cheeks colored. “Anytime.” To her amazement, he had a hint of charm. After a while, Leo hummed to the tunes on the radio as she departed consciously, finding herself in a daze. The situation rekindled memories of her first break-in. How antsy she had been! She remembered the jittery sensation that struck her once she heard the click. This, this is insane, she squeaked as she witnessed one of her friends open the door. The night that altered her life forever. Longing to relive those times had crept up out of nowhere. She wanted to pull off those ridiculous stints again. But most importantly, she wanted to see her friends again. She missed her best friend, Leland. A sniffle fled from her as Leo felt the mist glaze over her eyes. Why does it have to be now? She frowned, it was hard not to feel a bit lame. Then, an utterly ludicrous idea came to her head, prompting her to snicker. Should she? With a sly grin, Leo turned towards Liam. “Guess what?” She winked before she took her hands off the wheel. “Think fast!” Her tone was filled with amusement, practically a scream in the rush of wind. Leo positioned her arms on the open window, propping her head on the improvised pillow. Her eyes followed the haze of illuminations—a product of her watery vision and bright store lights. “So,” she rubbed her eyes. “What brought you to the car-jacking?” It was a bit of curiosity combined with the wish to not be seen crying. Besides, it was only a momentary lapse in weakness. tag: Liam McCaulsonnotes: listened to too many sad piano songs x.x

She extended her hand to take his and he shook it, pulling away almost as quickly. He settled back into his seat and closed his eyes. Being raised among humans and never learning control of his powers, it took great effort to stop his Sin. Even now, he knew he was the reason behind her brazen actions. She had seemed hesitate when he'd first met her and he knew, if he hadn't been there, she probably would have taken off on foot down the street when the guy had made his presence. He concentrated on reigning it in, a part of him-most likely his demon half-that fought against him but, eventually, he was able to stop the flow of desires and he let out a sigh. Just in time, too. He looked over to see a mass of tears welling in her eyes and, before he could even start feeling uncomfortable, she let go of the wheel. At the speeds they were rocketing down the street, the car instantly swerved, riding up onto the sidewalk and taking out a few streets signs and a bench before Liam leaned over and grabbed the wheel, righting them back onto the road.
"Jesus, woman!" He said, his heart pounding.
So, what brought you to the car-jacking? It was a simple enough question and certainly a question she had ever right to ask. After all, before all this, neither of them had known each other. He had no reason to join her at all. Even more so, he could have just left her to the car's owner and eventually, the police. But he hadn't. Still leaning over the center console, directing the car's movements, he let out a sigh.
His entire life, no matter where he went and whether or not it was on purpose, people did rash things they never would have in the first place. At first, it had terrified him, keeping him indoors but eventually, like any demon child, he found the idea exhilarating. He didn't know about his parentage, didn't know that the reason people did these things was because of the powers of Sin. There was even on time, in high school, he'd attended a party and, though things had gone perfect on his end, the house had burned down and he'd been arrested for arson when the kids who had torched the place, placed all the blame on him. It wasn't until the wreckage of the house was cleaned up that the police found two dead bodies of his classmates. It was then Liam realized he needed to set limits. In the minds of teenagers, Lust was dangerous. Luckily for him, he had still been part of the state system and had gotten out of serious jail time by being adopted by a parole officer. Too bad for her, she couldn't keep him contained.
He shrugged in response to her question. "Seemed like something fun to do. I snuck out tonight looking for an adrenaline rush and you were the first person I found that showed promise."

"Jesus, woman!" Triumph washed over Leo’s face when she detected a hint of shock in his tone. She had just flabbergasted a demon, how badass could she be? It felt great to know that besides being the best damn barista in the world—self-proclaimed, of course—that Leo had another achievement that made her all the more awesome. But the last word of his statement lingered. Woman. Needless to say, it was like a jab at her ego—Leo felt a bit older after hearing that stupid term. She scoffed, unsure whether or not it was audible in the rumbling of the radio and turbulent wind. Turning around, Leo watched him steer with a slight glare. “Miss. Or Lady. Never woman.” She corrected him, voice sounding partly serious. Leo brought her right hand to her lap, shifting her stare towards what was ahead of them. But really, thank you, she thought, smirking at the obscure darkness. Somehow, the syrupy feelings had evaporated before she even realized it. It was comforting, knowing that she wouldn’t turn into a complete mess while in a car with a complete stranger. The mellowness helped her settle down in the frigid night. She felt a bit warmer, too. "Seemed like something fun to do. I snuck out tonight looking for an adrenaline rush and you were the first person I found that showed promise." Leo snorted in response, the image of Liam in Jedi rags was the only thing that popped into her mind. “I am humbled, wise one.” She somewhat bowed her head, smiling as she did. “Your guidance is fully appreciated.” Peering back, Leo wondered if the man had contacted the police by now. Surely he would have, right? She mournfully recalled how the car only had a few scratches on it. To her and probably the owner’s dismay, the front was a wreck now. “That," Leo’s gaze returned to her companion and his odd predicament. “Looks really uncomfortable. I should drive again.” Her left hand hastily clasped onto the wheel. To be honest, she just wanted to give the car one more spin before departing it. But who had to know? tag: Liam McCaulsonnotes: BLAH

He rolled his eyes at her correction. Bitch, then He thought spitefully but kept it to himself. After all, they were in a high speed vehicle and any wrong move, even slight, could have them cartwheeling down the street. The headlights of other cars were a blur on the opposite side of the road and, it didn't take long for the familiar red and blue lights to appear in the rear view mirror, the familiar siren rising above the music. Liam let out a long line of profanity only ever heard out of the mouth of a biker before he turned back to her, his eyes just as wild and excited. He let her have the wheel but, in exchange, he held his hand out to her once more. "Want to experience another thrill?" he pulled his shirt off, stuffing it down into his jeans pocket. "I promise, I won't kill you."
Without giving it much thought, his Sin oozed out once more, slithering around her head like liquid snakes, stealthily working down her iron walls. He was coaxing her desire for the unknown, the desire for an adrenaline rush and, he was banking on her desire for him. Behind them, the sirens grew louder, another car had joined the first, the lights flashing inside the car like a club. "Come on, what do you have to fear?" Because humans had never evolved to have wings, the desire to fly was embedded in humans since the dawn of their creation. It was the reason they went to great lengths to feel a small thrill of it, whether it be sky diving or flying a plane. But, nothing compared to the real thing. Sure, he might not be able to fly her around the city like superman but, he could fly her far enough away that the police would never find them. They'd be too worried about the car crashing when they exited it. He gave her a mischievous smile and offered her his hand once more.

She heard the siren calls, prompting her to pout. The man had actually called the authorities. Mystery somewhat solved, sadly. Start thinking, Leo, really, but the shapeless flashes of red and blue proved to be incredibly distracting. She muttered various profanities under her breath, hand locked on the wheel. Surely they would get out of the jam. This couldn’t be the ending—the finale of the blossoming night. It was distasteful, preposterous. Leo dug the pedal into the floor, the engine cried out. Not if I can help it. "Want to experience another thrill? I promise, I won’t kill you." She noticed he had removed his shirt. Was this what he was really after? Sex? One last hurrah before the curtains of regulation sealed their show? Unless…her eyes shimmered in revelation. Liam the demon was a thing. He wasn’t just a random thug, he actually had tricks up his sleeves—well, back. He could fly. She focused on his offering hand, a look of uncertainty evident in her eyes. “I...” her voice faltered. I don’t know. Was he reliable? She trusted her capacity to escape the clutches of the police, she had done so countless times. Forfeiting her life to a man she scarcely knew from today? Every nerve screamed in opposition, but her spirit wanted to accept. Stuck. It was an acquainted feeling for her. The confining roof couldn’t conceal the glittering gems, the depths unknown, the world that defied logic. She could identify every constellation, recite every monologue known to man, formulate the perfect master plan to live out the rest of her life in tranquility, but what use would it be if she couldn’t experience it all? He embodied the key. Her key. A rendezvous that only appeared once every millennia. Even if she searched restlessly later on, there was no way she could reenact the impulse that awakened every adventurous bone she had to offer. "Come on, what do you have to fear?" She realized what she had desired and it wasn’t normalcy. But it wasn’t visions of a storybook life, a delusion of complete fantasy that tugged at her, either. Fascination. Repulsion. Chaos. Harmony. Her domain resided somewhere in between. The shrieking sirens thundered now, much grander than ever. Leo raised her head, staring into his striking blue eyes. She didn’t feel reassured, but hell if she ever did. A smile, then a nod. Leo took hold of his hand. She believed in Liam. tag: Liam McCaulsonnotes: happy with this one~

As soon as she took his hand, he took action. He pulled himself out the window, black wings bursting from his back before he used the car's momentum of swerving to the left after she let go of the wheel, to haul her out the window after him. His wings strained against her weight but he was successful in hoisting them up and out of the light and essentially, anyone's view. The car smashed into the nearest building and the police screeched in behind it, fanning out of their cars, guns pointed in the direction of the car. But Liam lost interest in the scene beneath them as he landed on the nearest rooftop, unable to go much further. Sure, Angels and demons had incredible strength and stamina but being able to carry someone about their same weight was a huge strain on the wings. He was surprised he was able to lift her this far. He sat down beside her, leaving his wings out as he laid back on his bed. He truly looked like a fallen angel. "They won't find us here." he said quietly. "They're going to be damn confused when they find no one in the car though." he said with a smirk.
Already, there were shouts from below as the cops fanned out along the street, searching for the car jackers who "ran away on foot". "Don't worry. I'll get you down. For now, I think it's probably safer just to hang out here for awhile. They might continue their search in the morning but sunlight always makes people look different. We'd be able to walk right by a cop and they won't know the difference."

The flight was a tempest. The high trill of the gust pushed from either end as they faded from their pursuers’ sight into endless nothingness. She didn’t pay heed to the orchestra of police sirens, hand clasped tightly in his. The city stretched wider than she could imagine, sky taller than she could see—view so alien, distant to what she had been accustomed to. Her thoughts weaved in and out, a whirl of utter exhilaration reverberated—the longer it went, the more dominant it rushed. Even if it was just for an instant, Leo’s heart electrified as if was not her own—a foreign but insistent thump-thump of humanity. Then she arrived—on a rooftop—amidst the fluorescent lights of New Orleans. Her body shivered with bumps and rattles, composure countered by awe. As Liam lurched back to rest Leo’s eyes met his figure. He was shrouded in the shade of shadows and glowed under rich moonlight, revealing his defined physique. For a second, he was more beautiful than handsome. “Wow,” she softly breathed, falling back beside him as she minded his wings, arms splayed out against the cushion. "They won't find us here. They're going to be damn confused when they find no one in the car though." Leo laughed. The sky swirled closer, myriads of stars seemed to lean in—illuminate—with interest at the pair. The luster was bewildering yet moving. Her hand stretched out before her, trailing the glistening lights, wondering when she would get another chance like this as though she never experienced it before at all, heart echoing in unexplained happiness. "Don't worry. I'll get you down. For now, I think it's probably safer just to hang out here for awhile. They might continue their search in the morning but sunlight always makes people look different. We'd be able to walk right by a cop and they won't know the difference." She smiled and nodded her head, eyes returning, glassy, to the night display. “I don’t mind.” She dragged her fingertips over the fabric, mind racing with sporadic thoughts that she couldn’t quite comprehend. She questioned if tomorrow could come too soon. Leo leapt from the floor, fixing her hair as she did. “But in the meantime, I’m going to find something to do.” She maneuvered, danced along the rooftop in hopes of easing her impatience but to no avail. It didn’t stop her from checking and rechecking, however. In the middle of her search, Leona shot a glance towards Liam. “You’d think a roof in modern day New Orleans would have something better installed, like a pool.” She continued on her prodding. At that point, it wasn’t about trying to find something rather than having an activity to keep her sane. She needed something to do. tag: Liam McCaulsonnotes: sorry for the SUPER long delay, but I promise I am back and ready to roll! <3
