PERSONALITY:
MANY PEOPLE’S FIRST IMPRESSIONS of Leona have been that of a “fighter” and surprisingly, they’re not too far off the mark. She possesses the energy, and she definitely has the determination. Leona harbors a special talent – the knack to reveal that whenever she’s singing on karaoke night, camping with close friends, or even sneaking into a bar that she is genuinely enjoying the chaos. And that’s the secret to her – Leona cherishes every moment, obstacle, and challenge that is presented to her. She’s not afraid to take life by the reins, it’s a part of what makes her so fearless at times. The “now” is her journey and she intends to make the most of it, regardless of what others think. Sure, her perception of life may create more predicaments than most, but the misfortunes are what makes an adventure so damn interesting. She desires the thrill and frankly, she wouldn’t give up that addiction for anything.
IT’S NOT A LARGE SECRET that Leona loves to socialize with everyone. In fact, mingling with others is one of her favorite pastimes. She is a naturally curious individual and being informed helps satiate her hunger. Her prowling at times, however, becomes evidence of her naiveté – once nabbing her the notorious title “Ms. Nosy”. Despite her mischief, Leona would go leaps and bounds to keep a healthy bond alive – sending cute ‘i adore you’ cards on Valentine’s Day, getting serious in a much needed study group session, even setting aside obligations if someone needed a listener to rant to. The girl cares about the people that are around her, and is generally an affectionate person to anyone that doesn’t piss her off.
BUT THIS IS DOESN’T MEAN Leona’s world is all sunshine and daffodils, she does grapple with her own inner demons as well. Although many do not realize it – Leona is very insecure about herself due to experiencing an unfortunate childhood. There are countless times where she has encountered instances of self-doubt and a lack of confidence. Over sporadic periods, Leona might even find herself agonizing over the absence of structure and permanence in her life. Many times such dilemmas are triggered by high stress-inducing situations: a difficult exam, lack of income, or a really bad break-up. All of these uncomfortable thoughts are channeled into her own self-defense mechanism – heightened impulsive tendencies and scenes of provocative behavior. Leona can be incredibly reckless and judgmental when she feels like she essentially isn’t control of her own world. Although there are certain realizations that such actions are malicious, self-control isn’t one of her specialties.
WHEN IS COMES TO LOVE, Leona tends to shy away from the notion. She detests heartbreak and does not take the emotional strains very well. Although she does feel anxious when it comes to romance – she still desires intimate affection. There were moments where she was willing to risk it all, become a fool for the opportunity to gain love, but her attempts have been to no avail.
AFTER THE TOAST, Leona continues to be dauntless and hyperactive. She is someone with an enormous heart, but she struggles to find the tranquility that she craves. Somewhere inside there is a little girl praying that everything will be okay, because she understands how rare second chances are in this unforgiving world.

HISTORY:
Leona was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois – living out her earlier years carefree and excited. Her parents nurtured her with incredible care and taught Leona the rich detail of her Italian ancestry. For as long as she could remember, she was always fascinated by their stories – their experiences opened up worlds of creativity for her. As an only child, Leona received plentiful attention and was encouraged to pursue her talents. Her upbringing was a big catalyst to her interest for more knowledge, sparking the desire to sate her curious mind. Leona’s youth was filled with documentaries and wild imagination – but most importantly, she was given a happiness that made her days blissful. The world was her oyster, and she felt as if nothing could’ve stopped her.
When Leona was eight years old, however, conflict had surfaced in the household. Her father had developed a gambling addiction and exhausted the family fortune. Nights were never peaceful anymore, and disagreements became more frequent by the day. There seemed to never be a right balance; between the finances, social life, and family – it was all a disaster. Amongst the shouting and tears the only solution seemed to be a divorce. And they did.
Two years after the incident, Leona’s lifestyle had taken a drastic turn for the worse. She had become an introvert and was a victim of bullying at her middle school. She didn’t want to go to school anymore – no longer was she motivated to further her education. The house was always vacant too, perks of having a mother infatuated with her medical career. Those were the days Leona felt truly alone. She desperately wanted to reverse the clock – travel back to simpler days. Unfortunately, her pleas were only mere dreams. She didn’t know what the hell to do anymore.
When Leona was fifteen, she enrolled into a high school and altered her own public image. She socialized with the “delinquent” crowd and found enjoyment in their schemes. Usually it was pickpocketing but there were times when they robbed small trinkets from general stores as well. Either way, crime became an outlet for her confusion and unhappiness. She felt that she was needed and that was all she could’ve asked for. However, Leona’s reliance on that sensation became her first descent into the life of crime.
During sophomore year, Leona had discovered someone she could vent her frustrations to – a druggie called Leland. They first met at a summer party and hit it off well; their mutual interest in travelling made for many optimistic discussions about the future. Their relationship together resembled that of a dysfunctional older brother and little sister – in the midst of their troublemaking they looked out for each other’s well-being. As her mother spent more time away from home, Leland became Leona’s guardian of sorts. He was the support and guidance that she desired for the past five years. They were transparent to each other because they always understood how accepting the other was.
The closer Leona got to Leland, the more involved she got into his criminal activities. It was rare to see Leland without her. Whether it be a concert or an illegal fight – they were a dynamic duo. Eventually, she ended up learning his craft – becoming an experienced locksmith and pickpocket over two years’ worth of practice. Although their life was disorganized, Leona felt safe beside him and he brought out the best in her. She was retaught what it truly meant to be happy.
One year has passed since then, but the moments within that period defined the Leona of now. After accumulating enough funds, Leland had decided to take a break from the mischief to pursue his dreams of travelling globally. He had invited her to travel the world with him, but she had different aspirations in mind. Leona decided that she had much to see in the states – she still had so much to learn. The girl knew what she desired and declined his offer. They parted ways on a bittersweet note, promising each other that their connection is thicker than blood. Shortly after their goodbyes, Leona packed up her bags and left home. Living out her dream was her priority, and the first stop on her list was the culturally rich city of New Orleans.
