“The world has always had people who strove to be beyond mundane, with some who seemed to stumble into it or be born in those shoes. It's escaped the eyes of the common man until recently for multiple reasons, and I'm aware that you might think the main ones are 'because of the sheer population of humanity in our era', or the 'the cultural tendency to video tape so much these days', but you'd be wrong about it. It's a keenly edged instrument wielded by those of us who realize it's a necessity.”
“You're asking 'and how would you know, man?' but you should have your answer right... about... now, as the picture kicks in. The cowl tell you anything? I'm Batman, and beyond the many other things I am, I happen to be one of the greatest detectives on the planet. I also happen to be the one that came up with that strategy. There's no point in being mystery men, because there won't be mysteries when Darkseid and his ilk return. There will only be war.”
“Which is why we're making it common knowledge that people can strive beyond the mundane, to gather our fellows together, and to prepare for the next time Darkseid and his Apokoliptian invaders come forth to attack our fragile home. This is the legacy of Darkseid's Challenge, and he will find it a sheer mistake to have even considered us a target.”
DC: Legacy: What is it?
DC: Legacy is a roleplay site in a DC Comics inspired universe (with sizable bits of history alternate from that of Prime Earth or New Earth thrown in here and there), which is set in the aftermath of the invasion of Earth by the forces of Apokolips in the year 2011, which was repelled by the combined action of the heroes who would go on to form the Justice League. It is a site which focuses on the 'legacy' concept of DC Comics that serves as the primary factor that makes DC Comics different from Marvel. The sheer events of the Apokolips war changed the face of much of the planet in many ways, and also brought about many new heroes.
It is a world which is focused on five types of player characters which are listed as follows: Major Canons (the kind of characters that you hear their name and know you mean them), Inheritors (characters who are the product of an established legacy, be it canon or a player created one), D-Bugs (A more polite way to reference characters who are technically canon but who appeared only a few times), Original Characters (as in the beginner's of new legacies who aren't canon), and finally, supporters (your important non-superheroic characters such as Alfred, Detective Lance, Commissioner Gordon, Steve Trevor, or the like).
It’s aim is to tell exciting stories in a DC Comics and DC animated Universe inspired universe, while providing creative writing opportunities for its players, and interesting new story-arcs.
