DISLIKES
DIVINE WEAPON: a set of five full finger rings on her right hand that extend to claws much like a cat's. Alone they look like any other rings, stopping right before the fingernails with an intricate lace design. The blades are triggered by clenching her hand into a fist. When she relaxes her hand the claws spring out. It can makes for a bloody mess in most situations but the blades all together are mighty effective and she loves them, seeing them as justice since any demon she has come across has proven to be even more brutal. Not to mention, even when extended the weapons remain discreet and she never has to worry about receiving unwanted attention to herself. To hide them once more she simply has to rub her fingers together and the blades return to their hiding spots.
PHYSICAL AILMENTS: n/a
WEAKNESSES: Anya's greatest weakness is her bond to family. No matter what she always feels the need to protect them even when it's a ludicrous endeavor. It also happens to put her at odds with her sense of duty. She's also extremely emotional, mostly coming out as anger. She has been known to be rash and highly difficult to reason with. She's gotten better, but it's still common for her to lash out on her enemies and because of this her judgment and common sense can be dangerously clouded at times. When upset but not yet angered, her neurotic tendencies are painfully obvious in an extreme way. It draws out very excessive need to be perfect and have everything around her perfect and she has been known to quickly grow agitated when nothing goes her way. She also has extremely crippling fears of spiders and fire.
STRENGTHS: Anya is highly observant and can read people and situations quite well. It also makes her a very fast learner. She is mostly good at masking her fear, however, she masks it with anger so as not to let it cripple her but where she can face what scares her armed and dangerous, the anger can sometimes become a drawback but it is a rare occurrence. She has very strong maternal instinct stemming from her mother's example and only growing from her own and after. She is very good with children.

PERSONALITY:
Anya was always a sweet girl. Even a child she was very much an angel. She was smart and brutally honest, but also far too forgiving for her own good. Though she has no problem reading people and their intentions, she has never failed to think the best of even the darkest soul. She's loyal to a fault to her family, friends and allies, and since most of these fall in the line of angels and some humans she has rarely ever faltered in her duty to protect the world from demons but that doesn't mean her loyalty and devotion cannot be tested.
She can come off as a tad neurotic and even temperamental to the point of petty violence if someone tests her patience. She is even more stubborn than a mule and when she makes up her mind there isn't much in the world that can change it. Her more neurotic side stems from worrying for her friends and family to the point she has almost reached a level of paranoia that causes moments of dependency where she clings and relies heavily on the one she's worried about, but she is fearless when it comes to her own well-being, making her rash and reckless at times.

HISTORY:
Being the middle child of five, Anya was an impish child growing up. She wasn't a horrible kid by any means but having so many siblings gave Anya some time to cause a bit of good-natured mischief here and there. She was extremely playful and curious and the combination tended to get her into troublesome situations more often than not. That being said, being the oldest daughter stuck in the middle under Filip and Andrei but under Varya and Nikolai, she learned to be independent quickly and it allowed her the means to not care about the moments she felt overlooked or ignored. She quickly learned it wasn't intentional or even realized and she learned to balance things out herself. As a child, she actually enjoyed her solitude as much as she enjoyed spending time with her family.
After Filip's death, however, things changed. She didn't really get anymore alone time. Not to mention, Arina's insisted that neither her nor her remaining siblings were to leave the house. Anya felt the need to let her mother carry that need to protect them out. Despite her curious nature, the girl never tried to sneak out. Instead, she helped her mother with whatever she needed her to do. It often times, made her feel like the bad guy when she thwarted her siblings attempts at sneaking out. She hadn't liked losing Filip and she wasn't ready to lose more. However, when Andrei left, she stopped caring about whether ratting out her siblings would make them resent her. She was selfish in the desire to keep what remaining family she had left close to her – a goal that proved rather futile as she appeared to keep losing them regardless.
Anya was still young by Divine standards when she met Demyan Pajari for the first time. It wasn't love at first sight by any means, though. She didn't even really take notice to the other Angel at all. Having lost her most of her family by the time he came around, she had built up a wall to keep others out. Demyan apparently had no such opinion. He took notice of her immediately. He claimed that he loved her, but despite all his attempts to court her, she continued to ignore and reject him. He never gave up, however. Instead, he switched tactics. He stopped openly trying to get her attention in exchange for a more subtle approach. He would bide his time and help her out of the sticky situations she seemed to constantly get herself in.
Eventually, she finally opened up to him with a firm and determined vow to remain nothing more than casual acquaintances. Her for him grew gradually but steadily until the day he proposed to her. She agreed without hesitation, only realizing at that particular moment exactly how much she loved him. He was charming, hilarious, and kind and she really couldn't see a future without him in it. They married and for a while everything was perfect. She was the happiest she had been in a very long time.
It wasn't something Anya worried about immediately, but she began to notice certain changes in Demyan's behavior. At first, they were small and easily shoved to the back of her mind. Slowly, however, it began to escalate to such a point that she grew concerned, especially after Zoya came into the picture. His oddly distant behavior came to a head and he disappeared for months. Alone to take care of a newborn, Anya was exhausted from both the constant care and attention the child needed as well as the constant worry of her husband's whereabouts. When Zoya slept, Anya would search for him. Little did she know that her persistent search would bring her world crumbling to dust at her feet.
The little girl had barely reached her fifteenth month when it happened. Despite having stopped hunting demons since the moment she found out she was pregnant, Anya had no problem sensing one. It was rare for them to come around but not unheard of for the single mother. Some demons felt they could get the drop on her or wreak havoc nearby with her neighbors while she was distracted with motherhood and personal matters. What was odd was the fact she sensed the demon but only found Demyan. Blinded by her love for him and the relief to find out he was still alive, she failed to put the pieces together. He demanded she stop looking for him and forget of his existence and when she refused, he set his Magik on his own daughter.
He didn't immediately kill the baby, only using the Magik to frighten her and force Anya's hand it seemed. She quickly agreed to his terms but it didn't seem to satisfy the former angel. He killed Zoya anyway. Because of his cruelty and all the mixed emotions running through her, Demyan was the very first demon she actually killed, having believed it was kinder to simply take their Magik and allow them to live in a better way. Demyan had changed her opinion of what demons deserved. After him she simply started killing them. After all, if someone as sweet and loving as he had once been could kill an innocent baby, they didn't deserve the chance to make amends.
Before she returned to hunting, Anya went off the grid completely to allow herself time to deal with her devastating loss. Having already lost so many before, she should have been used to it. This was entirely different, however. Not only had she lost two in one night, she had killed the one who had killed the other. Where only grief and sadness had been in the mix of her emotions with each of the others, there was an all-consuming guilt that came as an addition to the normal mix where Zoya and Demyan were concerned.
Deep down she knew it had all been her fault. She had seen the warning signs in her husband, but because of an obscenely steadfast denial she lost not one but both. It took her a very long time to come to terms with the mistake that cost her everything. While she still struggles with it on occasion, however, she no longer finds herself crippled with her guilt over the horrible night. She can now function well enough and has come out of her self-imposed isolation. But she chose to start fresh and put the man she had loved out of her mind entirely, even going back to her maiden name. She didn't want to be reminded of what she had and how she let it all slip through her fingers.
Anya has pretty much buried herself in duty and honor. Any demon that gets near her, she kills on sight. She doesn't get pleasure from it, she just acknowledges that she has absolutely nothing else left. When she isn't purging demons from the world, she's helping humans the best she can. Currently, this comes in the form of a forensic psychologist and evaluator for law enforcement. To this day, however, she has kept the fact that Demyan had turned to herself. To anyone who asks, she claims that he left one night and never returned. It's a half truth, but it's the truth nonetheless. There is really no need to let anyone know he came back a demon and what happened afterward. Before his return, Demyan had disappeared as the angel everyone knew him to be. She refuses to tarnish that image of him.
