PERSONALITY:
Calla is a very outgoing woman who lives off of the praise of others. She builds up her own confidence on such words and has learned to live this way. Any sort of slander or whisper, she finds herself becoming a wreck. It all stems from her childhood, of being bullied by the girls in her class. But, when she's at her best, she's all smiles and laughs. She has an amazing ability to read the crowd and give a performance of what is needed. She keeps her secret about her love affair with the Demon Erik from the Australian outback as well as her real life models for her art, considering the war raging between all three species.
She needs to feel like she's accepted, all the time and is constantly buying designer clothes and all the latest gadgets. She feels if she falls behind in the times, she'll be mocked and teased. Only her rising fame keeps her confidence. As long as she's well liked, even envied, she can function. Since Erik died and her brothers went their separate ways, Calla has been mostly alone. She has a few friends, but they aren't real friends. She hasn't loved another since Erik and probably forgets how to and she hasn't spoken to her parents in years. She's very self absorbed and fails to see the world around her. Erik had been the only one to bring the girl out from inside the prison she created within herself.

HISTORY:
Calla grew up in the Australian outback with three older brothers and two American parents. She came into the world screaming as any child would and was brought up like any other little girl. However, as she learned to walk and talk, she began to act like one of the boys. Her brothers, doting on their baby sister, let her tag along with them when they went out to play and it was all her brother's friends that became her friends. She instantly became one of the boys. From scrapped knees and dirty faces and a mouth that was constantly washed out with soap, it became hard for her friends to see her in any other way.
Grade school was.... difficult for the young girl. The other girls of her class were dressed in pretty dresses, their hair pulled up in bows and braids and she wore dirty jeans, a loose tee shirt and tattered sneakers. She was constantly picked on and teased and would often, go home crying. Being girls, there wasn't much her brothers could do against their sister's bullies. In the end, they elected to teach their sister to fight and the siblings could often be found, after school, mock fighting in the red sand of the Australian outback. It wasn't long till Calla was able to put her bullies in their place. Although it stopped the face to face bullying, it didn't stop the whispers or the sabotage. As the years progressed, her bullying turned secretive. The girls would whisper and spread rumors, even going as far as to glue her desk seat or give her the crap jobs to do. No amount of physical training with her brothers could combat this and it gradually wore down the young girl.
She managed to make it through elementary school and through Middle School. When she was about to start high school, her parents moved to the other side of the country and Calla was given the chance to restart her life. With her mother's help, Calla dressed like a girl for her first day of school and, instantly, was surprised to find how accepted she was. Very quickly, she made friends and even quicker than that, she found herself having fun. However, she became obsessive on looking perfect, on wearing the top of the line clothes and making sure she had everything the other girls did, even if she had to steal it. Her fear of being bullied again, of having no friends, was very real and drove the girl to drastic measures. She got caught, once, shoplifting from a department store and her one night in jail and her father's furious look in the warning quickly put an end to that.
Calla joined the Art club in sophomore year and quickly found something she greatly enjoyed. She quickly excelled through all her club activities, even taking on solo projects that immediately caught the attention of her artist teacher. He gave her private lessons, expanding her mind on the beauty of art. At this point, her brothers had left her for their own lives; Cody went to college in the states, Luka joined his father's army corp and Zach moved in with his girlfriend in Sydney. All alone, she was left to expanding her art. Before school, she started heading into the desert to paint the morning sunrise.
That was when she met him. The very idea of the Angels and Demons had only just began to rise to the surface and, like any good church going girl, believed it was utter nonsense. The boy she met in the desert had come as a surprise. He'd jumped down from a rocky outcropping beside her as she was painting, scaring her half to death. He'd laughed, saying he hadn't been able to resist the temptation to scare her and introduced himself as Erik and extended his hand to hers.
At first, she'd been wary. The boy was shirtless and wearing onto a ripped pair of shorts and had the tan of the natives who lived in the desert. Should she trust him? But his smile was inviting and his blue eyes were glittering with mischief and adventure and Calla found herself drawn into his world. It didn't take her long to realize he was a demon, his wings as black as onyx and he had the ability to shape shift into any animal he touched. At first, she'd taken the 'term' demon quite literal and had screamed at him and attempted to run away. But he caught her and made her realize that, not only were there demons in the world but also angels and they were both the same. Except, Demons had magik and angels did not. It wasn't about good or evil. It was about evolution and which species would come out on top. Much, he explained, like the settlers when they invaded the Americas and cast aside the natives.
Through till senior year, Calla was friends with the boy from the desert, even basing her artwork on him. She painted him flying, painted his wings and even used him as a model. Calla's art flourished, even without the knowledge that the man in her artwork was real. She was quickly thrown into art shows and was selling hundreds of paintings by the time she graduated high school. She got a call from the States asking her to come to a rather prestigious art show and, her parents, thrilled that their daughter was making something for herself, couldn't pass up the chance. They would move back to the states and give their daughter the future she deserved.
However, when Calla returned to the desert, the night before she was to move to the states, she attempted to find Erik but he was gone. She found his camp but knew what happened before she had a chance to get close enough. Blood was everywhere and it was clear from Erik's motionless body that he was dead. Calla was heartbroken and she took her heartbreak to the states where she devoted herself to her art, holding Art Galas and selling paintings with multiple zeros. As the years went by, she began to forget Erik's face and her paintings became faceless. She'd changed her outlook from painting Erik as he was to painting him with white wings as he flew free among the stars. It helped to settle her soul and bring a smile to her face once more.
Finally able to move on and accept the Erik was gone, Calla actively searches for another model and she has a particular obsession with demons.
