PERSONALITY:
"Ramiel is the angel of hope, and he is credited with two tasks: he is responsible for divine visions, and he guides the souls of the faithful into Heaven." - "the bearer of the instructions of the seven archangels." - "one of the holy angels whom God has set over those who rise"
Remy has struggled a lot since his creation. Most of it is with himself. He fights an internal battle of wanting to prove himself worthy while also not wanting to get into any conflicts. He's a recluse but desires the attention of others. His whole reason for becoming an Arch Angel was because he had a lack of patience and still, even with the Demi God within him, fights against it. Appearing as a teenager, Remy is often times underestimated and it tends to piss him off. He was born in the Divine Realm and a lot stronger and older than most of the angels out there. Just because he looked young and inexperienced, doesn't mean he is. He's killed a lot more demons than you think a coward Angel has. Since hearing the prophecy from the Silver Cross about his supposed involvement with ending the war between Angels, Demons and Humans, he's gained a lot of hatred from those holding Seats at the Silver Cross and, even, a few of his own Arch Angel comrades so tends to stay away from both factions. Having this prophecy hovering over him, however, has changed his allegiances. Now, he's not sure who's side he wants to be on. If he was supposed to decided a victor, how could he possibly choose a side? He's in constant conflict with himself and only the Demi God manipulating patience within him keeps him sane.
However, Remy is like any other Angel. He hates, and, he also loves. First time he laid eyes on Sari from the Silver Cross, he found himself falling madly in love with her but, like any true coward, can't literally face her. Outside of his duties as an Angel, Remy is extremely charismatic and has a way of drawing others to him. He'll do just about anything you need him to, as long as you aren't taking advantage of him. However, if he gets upset, he can tend to be withdraw and even going as far as to disappear for awhile, wanting to be alone. Though he has much more patience then when he lived in the Divine Realm, Remy is still actively seeking ways to prove himself a worthy Angel as he continues to feel looked down on.

HISTORY:
DIVINE REALM
As Immortals go, Remiel was the youngest, whether by chance or Mayaria's preference. Either way, since his first day of creation, Remiel always felt like he was falling far behind his brethren, always looked down upon and constantly underestimated. It bred a desire in Remiel to prove his worthy and, in essence, erased the need for patience from the young Angel. He wanted to catch up to his siblings, to have his siblings look upon him the same way they did the others. When the Demons began to appear, Remiel could admit his fear and sided with the Angels against the corruption of Magik. But, his brothers and sisters still looked down at him and treated him like a child. They wouldn't let him fight, wouldn't keep him in the know and pushed him behind them. Sure, to an outsider, the act was endearing; they only cared about his survival but Remiel was impatient and frustrated. Why couldn't they see him as one of them? Why couldn't they accept him as one of them?
He began to seek ways to better himself, to prove himself worthy. One particular day, when he was scouting out the enemy, hoping to take them by surprise and prove he could kill a demon, a boy around his same age appeared. The appearance shocked Remiel because the boy had one wing of corruption and the other snow white of an Angel. However, as much as he was wary of the boy, the two hit it off like long lost brothers. The boy's unwavering patience and calm demeanor was the perfect buffer for the overeager Angel. The boy was able to quell Remiel's hasty desires and, finally, admitted to Remiel that he was the reason he was able to find some patience. He also sold the story that, if Remiel accepted the boy as a part of him, he would give him the power- and the patience- to make his siblings see him for what he really was; a warrior.
Was this was Magik did to other Angels? Did they spin such tantalizing stories that they became unable to resist and became corrupted? Remiel's desire for what the boy offered was just that; unbearable. There was nothing more in this world that he wanted than for his siblings to accept him as one of them, regardless of how young he looked. Without caring about the consequences, he accepted the boy's offer. It happened so fast, a flash of lightening and the boy inserted himself into Remiel's body like a razor blade cutting apart his organs. He could have sworn the world beneath his feet was shaking and that he was falling but, like an electric shock, Remiel writhed in pain, unable to see and unable to comprehend. Eventually, everything just turned black.FALL FROM GRACE
When the pain ebbed enough for Remiel to open his eyes, he was greeted with a sky the color of blood as a electric storm drove across the land. It was a land of destruction, a land of desolation. He sat up, coughing ash and dirt from his mouth. The plain stretched for endless miles all around him, a barren desert with nothing more than death surrounding him. A breeze picked up and, for the first time, Remiel felt cold. He was naked and alone. He stood up, stretching his wings to loosen the dirt from among his feathers and that was when he felt it. A presence. It hovered in his self conscious like a shadow, watching his every move and adding to his discomfort. Everything came rushing back to him, the boy, his two colored wings and the promise. Remiel put a hand to his chest, the very place he knew he'd been struck by lightening but the skin was flat and flawless. So it was true... The boy had inserted himself inside of him and he felt a small thrill. Did he have power now? Would he be able to prove to his siblings he was strong and worthy? At the same time the thoughts crossed his mind, he felt a calmness like the gentle lapping of water. No reason to be so hasty. First, he needed to find out where he was and if there were others with him.
Over the next couple years, Remiel was able to find others and not just other Angels, others who had taken in a Demi God. It was then he realized who the boy had been, why his offer had been so tempting and how he'd managed to appear to everything Remiel wanted. The boy had been the first child of Mayaria, a being cut from Mayaria's own body, a God in itself. And now he harbored it inside his very body, a desecration of Mayaria's decree. Remiel felt shamed, hateful even, for the being within him. This was all IT'S fault. The Angels and those corrupted had been banished from the Divine Realm for the corruption of Magik and Remiel had taken the very essence of Magik to this new world with him. But, the Demi God's ability of patience kept the young Arch Angel from acting on spiteful desires to rid himself of It and, eventually, Remiel found himself becoming one with the Demi God, accepting it's presence like repentance.THE STORY OF ESTHER
(click for true account)
Remiel took to traveling the growing world, watching as the young race of humans flourished. He grew to love the humans, such innocent creatures who needed help in surviving. One particular group of people caught Remiel's attention; the Jews. They were an innocent race who looked towards others before themselves. They didn't hoard mass treasures and they didn't start wars. They were peaceful and patient. Among them, Remiel came to meet a girl named Esther, the daughter of the tribe's leader, Mordecai. Esther was everything a human girl was supposed to be; loving, happy and carefree. Remiel found himself falling in love with the girl and, as she got older, began to develop into a beautiful woman.
But Remiel knew his love would not last. In no time, Esther had caught the attention of the Persian King Xerxes and was asked to become his wife. Esther came to Remiel, tears in her eyes, telling Remiel the story of Xerxes hatred for the Jews. She didn't want to marry a man who could put her to death for her faith. Remiel smiled at her, feeling It's presence rise up as he placed a gentle hand on her cheek. "Have patience, Esther and someday, maybe, you can chance the King's mind."
Remiel watched from the outskirts of the Persian City, Babylon. He watched as Esther headed his advice and held fast to her patience. Even when the King ordered all Jews to be killed, Esther held strong and with quick thinking and plenty of courage and patience, she was able to save her people, even making her own father honored among the King's people. Remiel saw he was no longer needed there and decided it was time to continue his journey, leaving Esther and her people behind with a smile.SIEGE OF CARTHAGE
(click for true account)
The Story of Esther spread far and wide across the young world and Remiel became an icon in their faith. Angels had been making an impact on human lives since the day they'd been brought to this world and the term "angel", had stuck. But, Mayaria did not exist for the young humans. Instead, they looked towards a being named "God", a being said to have created them. Remiel became known as the Angel of Hope, as "one of the holy angels whom God has set over those who rise". For the first time since his creation, Remiel began to feel as though he was proving himself, making himself worthy among his older siblings.
His story gave courage to all those after Esther. Approximately seventy years after Esther's win for the Jews in Babylon, Ezra, fueled by the fire of her courage and the hope the name Remiel inspired in others, brought his people back to Jerusalem and established themselves a place they could call home. But Remiel didn't insert himself into their lives any longer. He saw the young race thriving on their own and felt that he was no longer needed.
But no matter how inspiring his name and story was, there was no stopping mankind from killing each other and fighting in pointless wars. Remiel found himself caught up in them everywhere he went. In 149 BC, Remiel found himself in the city of Carthage in North Africa. It was a peaceful city along the coast but, it had always been ravaged by the Romans. Hearing the desperate pleas of those within the city, Remiel once more, set to work.
Anticipating the eventual return of the Romans, Remiel easily convinced the city officials to barricade the city, to ready everyone for a long siege. However, Remiel misjudged the humanity of the humans within the city and was horrified to find that the city's officials had enlisted slaves and civilians into the military with no amount of training. They also used the slaves and civilians to construct sixty foot walls around the entire city so that, when the Roman's finally did appear, they were forced to surrounded Carthage and set up camp, initially starting the siege.
The people of Carthage were able to hold off the Roman soldiers for three long years. During that time, Remiel spent his time moving among the people, giving them all words of wisdom and transmitting patience to each person he touched. Hope and patience. However, for the first time in Remiel's life, he experienced defeat. In 146 BC, the Roman's were able to breach the walls of the city and enslave the people within, leveling the city to nothing. Remiel barely escaped with his life. A long scar across his chest is the only reminder of his failure to this day.THE GREAT SIEGE OF GIBRALTAR

Swept up in the tides of war, Remiel found himself in Britain in 1779 as the Spanish and French were preparing to drive off the British forces in a place called Gibraltar. The French and Spanish surrounded the waterways with warships while large infantry troops surrounded the city on the ground. The French and Spanish didn't want a fight, they wanted the British to surrender due to war of attrition but they vastly underestimated the British. The British Navy was able to breakthrough the warship siege wall and secure resupplies for themselves while holding them off with cannon fire and and surprise night time attacks. Remiel was surprised to find that he no longer needed to force his Virtue on others. His mere presence alone calmed the troops and civilians, giving them the time to think clearly and evaluate every inch of the battle.
In 1783, the British were able to successfully drive off the French and Spanish from Gibraltar by sheer determination alone. He was able to pass through the city without so much as a glance but by his being in the city, it had strengthened the hope and patience of all it's residents which had allowed them to overcome insurmountable odds. This did more than help the humans. It gave him the piece of mind that he was growing stronger and that, perhaps, the Demi God hadn't been wrong; power, however, just came in many forms.THE HOLOCAUST
Remiel never truly forgot the Jews who had been nothing but kind to him. In the 1940s, a rising dictator of Germany known as Adolf Hitler, worked off of Xerxes past hatred and decreed that all Jews were less than human and were to be destroyed. Though she was long dead, Remiel could still feel and acknowledge Esther's strength to save her people and decided to help her once more. As Jews were collected from their homes and shipped off to concentration camps, Remiel joined them. Through their selection, he was selected to work among the men and it was here, that Remiel set to work.
He would move among them, giving them hope and, most of all, patience; the abilities to survive. Because his name was passed down through the ages as an Angel of God, Remiel kept his true name to himself. Instead, he picked up the name 'Remy' and encouraged everyone to hang on, to have patience that someone would come and they could be freed. He reminded them of the story of Moses who freed his people from the Pharaoh, he reminded them of Esther who risked her own life to save her father and her people. Even as men, women and children were killed in the concentration camps everyday, Remiel stayed strong and, eventually, the hopes of the people were answered as American forces raided Germany and destroyed Hitler's reign.
Remiel stayed around long enough to watch as families reunited, as American soldiers handed out blankets and toys, food and water and most of all, hope. Watching all of this unfold, Remiel decided it was time to check out the United States, a country fast growing and becoming full of Sin. He decided it was time to join up with the other Arch Angels and save this world.PRESENT DAY
The bell tolled across the commons just as the cell phone in his pocket buzzed against his thigh. Letting out a sound of frustration, Remy shifted the books in his arms till he was able to reach into his pocket and pull out the phone. He frowned at the name on the screen before answering. "Yeah?"
"Remiel, I'd like you to come to the Silver Cross. There's someone I'd like you to meet." Click. Remy's frowned turned to irritation as he stared at the blank screen of his phone. Always rude. He slid his phone back into his pockets just as a chatty group of freshman passed him, bumping his shoulder without so much as an apology.
This was present day, he had to remind himself. Life in ancient times had changed and humans, now, were sacks filled with Sin. They held disregard for all those around them and cared only for themselves; for the pleasures of life. His name, now, only belonged in churches and holy text and was forgotten among the people. He was nothing more than the average college student who was socially awkward and a brainiac. He'd even changed his name to Remy over the years. He hadn't gone by Remiel in years. Well, except for him.
He headed across campus to the empty music building. Hardly anyone took music courses anymore and, if they did, they tended to make large classes in the auditorium on the other side of the building. He opened the double doors and entered into the building, the lights flickering on as they sensed motion. The halls smelled stuffy and the air conditioner was on full blast. He picked a random classroom, shrugged off his book bag, set his books down on the table and lifted his hands. Around each wrist was a black bracelet with beautiful engraved silver Latin along the edges. With a single shake of his wrists, the bracelets stretched and entered his palm, growing into twin Sias, their blades glinting silver. With a sigh, he closed his eyes and the Sias glowed gold, sucking him into the void that connected the human world to the Void where the Silver Cross was located.
As soon as he touched down on the marble flooring of the Silver Cross, the Sias returned to bracelet form and he opened his eyes. Before him, Leo was waiting for him, the same irritating hard expression on his face. "Remiel, you're late."
Remy resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Instead, he took a deep, calming breath. Patience, Remy. He told himself.
"We've filled the Third Seat of the Silver Cross and I wanted you to meet her."
"Why?" The words slipped from his mouth before he could stop them.
A vein popped on Leo's temple but his face gave nothing away to the real irritation he was feeling. It was common knowledge that Remy and Leo did not get along. Remy had fought hard for his acceptance among the Angel community and yet, Leo was still holding back. He still saw Remy as a child, even when Leo's own father was an Arch Angel and was, by every standard, younger than Remy. "You two have something in common." Was all he said before he turned and headed down a hallway.
Having no choice, Remy followed, their footsteps echoing off the opal colored walls around them. In one word, the Silver Cross was gorgeous but Remy always felt as though it was too much. This was a place the Demon Lord of Greed would love to call home. As Angels, they were supposed to be beneath worldly possessions and grand living. When he'd brought this up to Jophiel, she'd merely smiled at him and told him to remember that the Silver Cross had been created by Mayaria for them and that they should appreciate such things. But that didn't mean he had to like it.
Leo led him to the temple in the back of the Silver Cross and opened the door to the cathedral. On the floor, before the alter, a woman was spread out across the floor, her hair looking like blood around her. She was wearing nothing more than a simple white dress, her feet and arms bare. Her eyes were closed but Remy could feel the vibrations coming off of her, as if there was Magik within the room but not magik that had corrupted the Angels.
Leo whispered. "This is Sari Caiden and she's been known as a prophetess of the Goddess. Everything she says has come true."
Remy felt a strangeness within him as he watched her. She had stood up from the floor, eyes still closed and proceeded to dance before the alter in a strange, but alluring, rhythm. He was transfixed and a warmth was spreading through him. She was beautiful... Even her movements were flawless... "What-what does this have to do with me?" Remy asked, finally pulling his gaze away to look over at Leo.
"Sari, here, as told us that the Goddess has picked you to end this war. 'He who inspires hope shall bridge the gap between the dividing factions and bring a peace among the beasts. Only then will a victor be decided.' "
The chilling prophecy sent a shiver down Remy's spine. "What does that mean?"
Leo turned dark, malicious eyes towards Remy. "I don't know. I was hoping you could tell me..."
