A figure stood in front of a wall looking over her creation in the making in the dead of night. Cans of spray paint littered the ground around the base of the wall. The creator was deciding what to work on next. The piece was well designed and their sketchbook lay open close by where to the page where picture had already been drawn‒it was a Garden of Eden scene. Perhaps New Orleans wasn’t the best place to put this, hell it wasn’t even the best place for the angel hybrid to be, but she enjoyed the thought of pissing off a demon or two and that is why she picked this spot. Stella put the hood of her black jacket down and picked up several cans of spray paint, shoving all but two into her hoodies pockets before she set to work again.
Every once in a while she would hear voices drifting near and her hand would go to the cuff on her wrist just in case it was a demon that wandered too close for her comfort. No one ever came into her line of sight and the voices drifted away just as quickly as they had come and she would go back to her art. It was nearing dawn when she finished and she hadn’t looked it over it full just yet. Stella shoved all of the cans of spray paint into her duffle bag and then reached for the soft cooler she had next to it. It was unzipped in a flash and she had a beer in her hand. Using the cuff on her wrist she snapped the top off the bottle‒something her angel father would disapprove of‒and took a self-satisfied swig. Then she took several paces away from the wall and sat down. She set the beer on the ground next to her, spread her legs out in front of her and leaned back so her arms were holding her up and then she looked at her handiwork‒Adam and Eve in all their glory stared back at her with several angels watching over then while the Snake slithered not too far away. Instantly, a smug grin crossed her face‒she couldn’t wait until someone got enraged over this‒and then she took another swig of her beer. Then she just sat there and looked over her newest work of art, she could now cross another city off her list of places she needed to paint a mural in.

Just because he was a detective didn't mean he wasn't given the shitty night shift the newbie officers always got. However, unlike said newbie officers, Zander was able to drive around in his own car and wear his own clothes. Most of the night was boring. Even the calls on the scanner were few and far between and none of them were anything that needed his attention. He was fine with that though. It gave him enough time to focus on his personal life, the one that revolved around him being the son of a Demon Lord and a demon Lord who kept him on a short leash. He stopped at a red light and frowned, his hands clenching over the steering wheel. He'd gotten the detective position in New Orleans because of the strong demon activity here, not so his mother could bring him back under her wing like a mother hen. Their latest conversation had his head reeling with a different outlook on his entire existence. Elizabeth Sterling never did anything without a very good reason and the very reason for his own existence had him too terrified to find out the truth she'd offered him. Did she had plans for him? There was a very good reason she kept him from the other Demon Lords and he found it very hard to believe it was because he was her greatest weakness.
The light turned green and he went straight through the intersection. A dog barking caught his attention and he glanced off to his right, only to a double take and slow the car to park along the street a block up. He'd been seeing a rise in graffiti lately and more and more reports were coming in but no perp was being identified. Whether luck or not, he spotted the artist in the act just as he'd past and decided to approach himself. For now, he would keep his identity as a cop hidden, see if he could get them to confess before he took them in.
He crossed the side street to the same block of the graffiti and found himself standing behind a woman sitting on the ground admiring the work. His very first reaction was of what the mural was. It was very clearly the garden of Eden, a paradise that had been locked away from the demons and protected by angels since their very first appearance in this world. He briefly remembered a story his mother had told him how Lilith, the wife of Asmodeus, had tempted Eve to eat the forbidden fruit while his own mother, in snake form, slithered around her shoulders but, he had been a child when he'd heard the story and very idea of such a thing happening was ridiculous. Lilith and his mother might have been close acquaintances but he didn't see her playing "Snake" just for show.
His second reaction was the woman herself. Though it wasn't very strong, he could clearly smell Angel about her. Hybrid? The scent was definitely there but it wasn't overpowering. "Takes a pair of balls to paint murals like this." he said conversationally, finding coming to stand beside her, hands in his pockets, his cuffs, badge and gun hidden behind him under his jacket.

The bottle of beer was about halfway drained when the sound of footsteps alerted her to someone approaching her. She remained calm for the most part, though her shoulders tensed up as she prepared to defend herself just in case this intruder on her personal time decided to do more than just talk to her. “I guess it does, doesn’t it? I’d love to meet whoever did it and shake their hand on such a wonderful piece of work.” She was being smug but was also covering her ass. True street artists never admitted that they were the ones behind the painting. “I was just rolling through town and spotted it so I decided to take a moment to appreciate it before I left. Who knows if it will still be there next time I am here? Or even if there will be a next time here?” she questioned. The beer was abandoned as she got up off the ground and dusted herself off. As she made her way to her belongings she took the cuff off her wrist and shoved it into her hoodie pocket, her hand remained there wrapped around it just in case she needed to use it to get out of this city over run by demons.
“I think the artist decided your city needed a little… Brightening up. All your other graffiti is… Not so wonderful works. You needed a real work of art around here somewhere and I guess this is their version of that… Or they wanted to piss a couple demons off… Or both… Probably both come to think of it. If you find them why don’t you ask for me, officer?” she was a street artist and she knew how to tell if someone was a cop when they approached her. Whether they knew it or not they all had a certain air over them, like they wanted to get a confession out of her. Something no one had ever gotten out of her and she didn’t plan to let that start now. She grabbed her things and then turned to the man; she stepped closer and gave him a grin. “Is there anything else I can help you with?” she questioned with an air of innocence.

Well, Angels weren't known for their stupidity. He had to give her some credit for being able to figure out what he was. However, that also threw her under the bus. Only those who intimately knew the law knew what to look for and he wasn't buying her "innocent art appreciation" speech. There was no denying the fresh scent of spray paint and, although he might not have been able to pin the smell on her due to it's high potency in the area, he bet she had microscopic particles of paint on her hands on clothes. However, human law was difficult. He couldn't do a thing to her unless he had proof. And hearsay was not proof. Not to mention, from standing this close to her, he could feel the presence of a Divine Blade. Any sudden movements towards her, if she realized he was a demon, and he'd be done for. He angrily clenched his fists in his pockets. There was nothing he could do to her in any realm.
He turned to her with a smile. "Going somewhere?" he asked her curiously. "You make it sound like you're from out of town. Why don't you stick around and check out the historic district or even get to know some of the culture around here. This really isn't a place you just want to breeze through without taking a look around first." He made a point of checking his phone for the time. "I'm almost done my shift. I could show you around?" he offered, not ready to let her out of his sight just yet.

Stella raised an eyebrow at him, "One doesn't earn the title of drifter by sticking around longer than necessary. And I certainly don't get the title if I am hanging out with the local law enforcement. " She mused. "But tell you what officer, today I will make an exception. Let me get some breakfast in me–don't worry I'll get you a donut or real food if you prefer to break the stereotype–I'll change out of this clothes in the bathroom and maybe if I like you enough and you don't try to kill me like your type generally has done then perhaps I'll let you show me the town." She said with amusement in her voice. She was taught better than to let someone walk up on her and not identify their species, she just didn't draw her weapon until it was necessary. Sure, she was cautious around demons but he certainly could tell what she was as he hadn't made a move to hurt her. She wasn't letting her guard down though. "I don't know my way around though so if you could lead the way to a decent place to eat that would be great but first I need to drop my bags off by my car and make sure my cat is okay." She said before she headed off, not bothering to wait for a response.
Not too far away her car was parked, a 1965 cherry red mustang with a black convertible top and black and red interior. There was a dark mass upon the the top of it and as she got closer the little ball of fur stretched out and was revealed to be a tuxedo cat, it was small in size but obviously well cared for. "Hey there, Tennessee. Enjoying nap time rather than looking around?" She chuckled as she pet him. The cat looked at her with big green eyes and watched as she opened the car door and three her bags into the back seat. She took her hoodie off–taking the cuff from the pocket and still held it tight–and threw it back there as well, leaving her in a white tank top and grey sweat pants. She looked through the back seat, grabbing a few articles of clothing and a couple of essentials before throwing them into the messenger bag on the front seat. She put that her head, shut the door, and gave the cat a quick petting. "Be good little one. I'll be back soon and I will bring you breakfast." She said softly. As if knowing exactly what she said Tennessee relocated from the roof to the hood of the car, curled up, and was back on his way to dreamland. Stella turned back around expectantly then, "Ready when you are."
