New York City wasn't Dina's first choice to look for her missing mentor but it was the best lead she had gotten so far. The city was a bit too crowded for her tastes and the air constantly smelled of smoke and pollution. She couldn't understand how so many people could live in such tiny spaces crammed with so many people. Even for someone who possessed little worldly possessions, even Dina needed her space. The constant noise of horns blowing from angry drivers and the sound of train tracks screeching against the poorly lubricated rails gave the Arch Angel a headache; if that was even possible for an Angel but somehow this city managed to do so. With her hands tucked into the pockets of her dark brown leather jacket, Dina walked along 8th Avenue towards where she was to meet her contact. The man was a human but he was well known within the Angel community and has come to be their go to human within the last few weeks. Dina had always felt a little off with him and because of it usually ignored him. However, he was the only reliable witness to have any information on Michael's whereabouts, and whether or not the leads were any good, Dina wasn't about to pass up the chance to gain valuable intel because of personal feelings.
As she rounded the corner into the alley she had intended to meet the human, the sudden feeling of being watched washed over her, sending goosebumps down her arm. She scanned the area but came up empty though that didn't mean she wasn't alone. "Patrick?" She called out, hoping the human was being extra cautious by hiding until she arrived. When she received silence as her answer she decided to check the alley out before departing. "Patrick!" She called out once more in the hopes her voice would give him the okay but he never showed. He was a timid man who preferred to remain in the shadows so quirky behavior wasn't anything new with him. Worried still as humans were fragile, she proceeded further into the alley to make sure he was okay.
Half way into the alley she noticed a pool of blood situated in the middle of the alley. Curiously she approached and knelt down to take a closer look. It still looked fresh as if whoever was here before had only bled a few minutes ago. A trail of blood led her away from the initial pool and as she followed it she came across its source. "Oh Patrick. What have you gotten yourself into?" Dina said as she looked down at the lifeless body that had once been Patrick. Though she felt remorse for the poor human, she wasn't given enough time to mourn when she was thrown to the side from behind. As she was caught off guard, she landed on her back with a thud but wasted no time in getting back to her feet. "Now how did I know you were going to be here?" Dina said in a sarcastic tone to the demon who had just made himself known to her. "You think old Patty here was only working for the Angels? Jeez, you lot really are naive." The demon said in retort with a devilish smirk only a demon mother could love. "This ends now." Dina commanded as she pulled out her blade. "You're right. I have appointments I need to be at so if you'll excuse me."
The demon made no effort to attack Dina but she wasn't about to let him get away after killing a human, innocent or not. Before the demon could fly away she charged for him like a Valkyrie warrior charging into battle. The demon showed no effort to fight back at first, being one of the types to flee from a fight rather than face it, and Dina saw this as a weakness and used it to her advantage. As the demon tried to fly away she reached up and grabbed the tip of his wing and gave it a forceful pull, sending him crashing onto the concrete floor. While he was down she made no hesitation to jab her sword into his wing to keep him still, like a butterfly put on display. His screams filled the alley but the sound of the congested street ahead made it almost impossible to hear from outside the alley. "Who sent you!" Dina growled but the demon was in too much pain to answer. "What do you know about Michael? Tell me now or I rip it off." She said as she twisted the blade, igniting screams that could almost deafen.

Caspian hated the big city. When he moved in with his aunt in northern New York after his parents were killed, it wasn't much different from South Dakota. However, after joining the Hunter Program, he'd been assigned to several large cities to kill a target. He was getting the impression that angels and demons flooded to populated areas. Being sent to NYC wasn't a let down. In the city that never sleeps, the whole city was awash in the supernatural. Demons sold hotdogs out of a vending cart and angels drove taxis. They all blended into normal society and it made Caspian sick. How dare they look down their noses at mankind and yet, blend into their society like they were one of them.
He hadn't been given a specific target in the city but he didn't mind. He'd come across quite a few and was able to mow them down, even without taking the drugs. But it was his current target that was giving him trouble. He'd spotted the demon gutting a human in an alley but before he'd gotten the chance to attack him, the demon itself, hid from the angel who was calling out. His heart hammered as he pressed himself behind the dumpster. An Angel AND a demon. To stay safe, it was probably better to let the two kill each other before he attempted to show himself. The Hunter drugs gave him the skills to kill the immortals but against two of them, whether they were enemies or not, he'd most likely fail.
The demon shouted out in pain and Caspian chanced a look around the dumpster to see the Angel standing above the skewered demon. Michael? The angel was threatening the demon on whereabouts of a man named Michael. The Arch Angel? What had he stumbled onto? He decided to wait and find out more information.

"Michael who?" The demon cried out but it only made the Arch Angel's wrath stronger. "Don't play coy with me. You know exactly who I'm talking about, and if you don't start talking now, I'm going to make sure your own whore of a mother can't recognize you." It was unwise to test Dina's patience, and what little she had she didn't waste it on demons. It was even clear to the demon by the look on his face that she wasn't to be taken lightly; but that didn't stop him from testing the waters anyway.
"Well that's not a very nice thing to say to about someones mother. Be a little nicer and take that blade out of my wing, and maybe I could remember better." Dina shook her head. "Not happening. I know as soon as I let you go you'll run like the coward you are. I let you go after you tell me everything." The demon glared up at her as if about to say something but remained silent, contemplating on whether he should tell her or not. Feeling a little impatient, Dina twisted the blade once more and it seemed to be just enough to push the demon over the edge. "Okay okay! I'll talk! I overheard this guy talking about some angel that had gone missing, but at first I didn't think anything of it. I mean, it's an angel, why would any demon care if they went missing? One less we have to stress over." "Get to the point!" Dina growled impatiently. "An impatient one aren't you. Anyways, I kept listening and maybe I heard a name get tossed around a few times. I don't remember. It's a little hard to think with a blade in my wing!" Dina couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Quit being a baby." The demon glared but continued. "All I heard was that a certain angel was missing and because of it the angels were in a frenzy. I didn't get an outright name but I eventually put the pieces together." "All by yourself?" "Shut up. If you're here I'm assuming I'm right?" "Why are you here, then?" "My boss told me about some meddling human that was planning on ratting him out to the angels and sent me to take care of it. Which I did, though he didn't tell me an Arch was going to be here." The demon said with a look of irritation, surprisingly not at her, but about his boss. "Demons are good at that. Who's your boss?" "And what do I get if I tell you more?" "Your life?" "Fair enough. Never liked the guy anyway. An elemental demon who runs the nightclub on Barber Street. He's real big on secrets. Kind of his thing." "What did Patrick tell you?" "When I got here the human thought I was an angel at first, so I went along with it. He told me that your beloved leader has up and left you and he thinks there's foul play at hand. Like we're involved or something. You know want to know what I think?" "Not really." "I think he left all on his own. Probably got tired of you lot. I don't blame him. You seem like the clingy type." He said with a smirk that was quickly wiped from his face by the back of her hand. "You're about two seconds from becoming dust!" She gripped his shirt in her fist and yanked him towards her slightly. "What else." "That's it! I swear! I don't know anything else! I'm just a hired hand, no one tells me anything! You've gotta believe me." Dina gave him a long, hard glare before she let him go but kept her blade in his wing. "I do." Without warning, her blade burst into flames as she pressed the small button on the handle and within an instant the demon was encased in it. It was only then did she pull her blade from his wing and stood up, certain he wouldn't last more than 30 seconds, let alone try to run. "Useless." She muttered as her blade retracted and she tucked it into her belt behind her belt and shielded it with her jacket from curious eyes.

Shit! An Arch Angel! Caspian turned away from the scene, leaning his head back against the dumpster and closing his eyes, the rushing adrenaline in his system making him feel sick. This was bad. At training, one was advised to never take on a Demon Lord or Arch Angel alone. Their mind manipulation could force anyone to do just about anything and, even if the Angels harbored Virtues, too much could mean disaster. Especially when he was trying to kill them. From his pocket, he pulled out the little container with his drugs inside. Behind him, the Angel continued to threaten the demon and he screamed out in pain. He could do this... A memory surfaced of his sister, held against her will against her bed as the demon slowly strangled her with his shadows. Blood sprayed everywhere as the demon shifted into a bear and his parents were cast aside like rag dolls. He clenched the container of pills. How dare they have feelings for one another when they could so easily slaughter human beings. How dare they feel sympathy and concern.
A rush of heat rushed past the dumpster and the Demon screamed again. Caspian peered around the side once more to see the Demon cloaked in flames and he froze. Angels couldn't use Magik... It was common knowledge that Angels used Divine Blades to kill their corrupted brethren. Had he heard right? Was she an Arch Angel or a demon?
With one of them out of the way, Caspian pushed aside his rushing thoughts and stepped out from behind the dumpster, flames reflecting in his eyes as though he, himself, was made of flames. From his back, he pulled out a sword, the silver steel glinting orange. "Do you know what I am, devil?" he asked her. The container of pills felt heavy in his pocket, almost as if it were reminding him to take them but he ignored it. He was only supposed to take them in dire need. After all, he could only take one every hour and he didn't think his arms could take much more abuse today considering he'd already used one earlier that morning. When he started the Hunter Program, he'd been told that, over time, the drugs would break down the human body and he would die an early death but he hadn't cared. He wanted revenge for his family. However, as soon as he bonded with the drugs, he hadn't been expecting how quickly the drugs worked. His first ailment had been his arms. He'd grown especially weaker in them, constantly having to go to therapy to stop the numb tingling in his fingers. He estimated, at the rate they were deteriorating, that he'd lose all strength and feeling in his arms by his late thirties. He hoped to take as many of the winged fuckers as he could before then.

Dina slowly turned around to face the stranger behind the voice and pulled her weapon back out with lightning speed, expecting another demon, but then hesitated when she saw he was only human. She found his words both amusing and insulting and would have brushed it off with a laugh if it weren't for the blade in his hand. With the flames roaring behind her, giving the scene a hellish appearance, it was easy to mistake her for a demon. Knowing this, she remained calm, divine blade burning bright in her hand but otherwise down by her side in a non confrontational position.
"No, but apparently neither do you about me, otherwise you wouldn't approach me in such a manner." She said in a strong, commanding voice as if she were a Captain speaking to one of her lesser ranking officers. She could tell, simply by the way he looked at her with uncertainty in his eyes, that we was new to this. Despite her virtue, Dina lived for battle and could always spot inexperience from a mile away. Luckily for him, Dina was one of the few Angels that didn't harm humans -even if one made an attempt on her life- and as a sign of trust she extinguished the fire from her blade and retracted it back into it's original form; a solid gold bracelet that looked like an every day bangle bracelet.
"But I'll make it easy for you. My name is Jophiel, Arch Angel of Temperance, and your elder. And as such, I would strongly advise you put that away before someone gets hurt."

He gripped the hilt of his sword harder, not wanting to have a conversation with her. Hunting humanoid creatures was a lot different from hunting animals. Those who looked like you, spoke like you and had feelings like you were able to pull on the strings of sympathy. He could easily put himself in her shoes and react the same way. But always, the image of his family slaughtered before him simply because they were expendable, weak creatures shook him with rage and he was able to distance himself from the Angel as she spoke.
"I don't give a shit who or what you are." he snarled at her, "You're all the fucking same. You believe yourselves to be higher than humans and believe it's your duty to either eradicate us or save us. We were on this earth first and you have no rights here!" With quick reflexes, he charged her, blade slicing towards her. There was a certain calmness about him most filled with revenge couldn't control. It came from years of training with the Hunter Program. He had been forced to place his revenge on the back burner and focus on the main goal; destroying the Angels and Demons. One by one, eventually, he'd get his revenge. This allowed him to work with a relative calm that enabled his mind to think and act quickly. He would only use the pills when he'd exhausted his own strength. She might not want to fight back but he'd give her a reason to.

It would seem her plea would fall onto deaf ears as she found herself in a tough situation. She could either, a) defend herself but run the risk of injuring, if not killing, the human or b) allow him to attack her, only to learn his weapon would useless against her. In either situation the outcome would look the same, with the mortal getting hurt and the Angel left to pick up the pieces. Humans were as stubborn as they were fragile and as she watched the human charge for her like a gladiator in the heat of battle, her love and admiration for the "good ol' days" when humans worshiped them seemed to become more and more appealing.
As his blade sliced through the air she took a step to the side, the glint in the sword from the flames shone bright in her eyes but she was quick to react. Reaching out she attempted to grab his wrist and loosen his grip on his weapon in the efforts to disarm him. Not to leave him at a disadvantage, but to ensure the safety of both of them was guaranteed while she reasoned with him.
"You're arrogance will get you killed one day, if not worse." She commented, still determined to talk him out of his irrational hatred towards her rather than beat it out of him as she would rather do. "You know nothing of the sacrifices we have made in order to protect you from our fallen brethren, and if you did you would not be here failing to kill me right now. If I were to say all humans and chimpanzees were the same, you wouldn't consider that to be wholly accurate, now would you? There are similarities, yes, and they are cut from the same cloth but in the end they are two separate entities. Same with Angels and Demons. Not all of us are determined to save or destroy mankind. You're good at doing that to yourselves already."
